With ANZ, the quality of your bookkeeping can matter as much as the size of your business. Its online lending platform, GoBiz, plugs straight into your accounting software and reads the numbers there, so an owner whose Xero or MYOB file is reconciled every week can be looking at a conditional answer in about the time it takes to drink a coffee. That’s a genuinely good experience, and for businesses that fit, ANZ is a strong first stop.
This profile is built from ANZ’s own website as at October 2026. It covers the GoBiz products, the banker-assisted loans for bigger or secured needs, the published rules that decide who gets through, and what to do if ANZ isn’t the right fit this time. Banks update criteria regularly, so confirm the detail with ANZ before you apply.
How does ANZ GoBiz work?
GoBiz is ANZ’s self-service route for smaller unsecured amounts. You connect your accounting file, ANZ reads your reconciled income and expenses, and the platform works out what it can offer. ANZ says the online application takes 20 minutes or less, conditional approval can come in about the same time if you’re eligible, final approval usually takes no more than two business days, and funds can land within two business days of returning signed documents.
As at October 2026, three products sit on GoBiz:
| GoBiz product | Published amounts | Key features |
|---|---|---|
| Unsecured business loan | $10k to $200k online (GoBiz lending capped at $500k in total) | Up to seven years variable or three years fixed; interest-only for up to two years on a seven-year variable loan; weekly or monthly repayments |
| Unsecured business overdraft | $2k to $200k | Interest only on what you use; no asset security |
| Business vehicle loan | Not published | Up to seven years; optional balloon; online quote |
On the loan, ANZ lists a $0 upfront fee and a $0 annual admin fee, with no approval fee, though other charges in its fees document may apply. Variable loans can be repaid early at no extra cost. Fixed loans may carry early repayment costs, which ANZ itself warns can be high, so ask for the dollar figure before you lock in.
Which businesses get through GoBiz?
ANZ publishes a detailed checklist. The business side looks like this:
- Accounting software: Xero, MYOB or Intuit QuickBooks.
- Data: at least six months of continuous reconciled financial data.
- Registration: operating under a registered ABN or ACN for at least six months (companies need both).
- GST: registered if turnover is $75k or more.
- Size: annual turnover no higher than $75m.
- Structure: sole trader, company, partnership, or a fixed unit or discretionary trading trust with a corporate trustee, with up to five directors or partners.
On the people side, each sole trader, director or partner must be over 18, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and consent to an individual credit check.
Four situations rule GoBiz out entirely: the business is a franchise, it’s a partnership with a company as a partner, a director has left in the past six months, or 25% or more of the shares have changed hands in the past six months. Those last two catch owners who have just bought out a partner, which is exactly when extra funding is often needed. Our page on buying out a business partner covers the options that work in that window.
How much can you borrow from ANZ in total?
This is the detail many owners miss. ANZ counts your existing ANZ facilities against GoBiz limits. As at October 2026 the combined caps are $50k across ANZ business credit cards, $300k across ANZ business overdrafts, $500k across everything applied for through GoBiz, and less than $1.5m across all ANZ business lending.
Newer businesses get tighter limits. If you’ve traded under the same ABN or ACN for under 12 months, or have only six to 12 months of reconciled data, you can make one successful GoBiz application, capped at $50k for cards, $50k for overdrafts and $200k for other lending.
Security changes with size too. Up to $200k, director guarantees are normally enough. Between $200k and $500k ANZ may take a general security agreement over business assets, and it says plainly that a GSA doesn’t cover personal property like your home. Existing ANZ lending is added to the new request when ANZ decides whether a GSA is needed.

What does ANZ offer through a banker?
Not every need fits an online form. ANZ’s banker-assisted range as at October 2026 includes:
- ANZ Business Loan from $10k, with terms up to 30 years, fixed or variable rates, an optional interest-only period and the choice of using an asset as security.
- ANZ Business Overdraft from $2k, with no repayment deadline and interest charged only on the amount used.
- Vehicle and equipment finance through loans, hire purchase and leases, with the asset as security and a discount on eligible energy-efficient assets.
- Bank guarantees, with no published minimum or maximum.
- Tailored commercial facilities that combine loan types under a relationship manager.
ANZ also promotes a streamlined refinance for businesses whose total borrowing is under $1.5m. Conditions include an existing facility at least 12 months old, repayments on the new loan equal to or lower than the current ones, a clean repayment record over the past year and a credit check.
An example of where GoBiz fits, and where it doesn’t
Picture two owners. The first runs a Melbourne joinery shop as a company, has traded for three years, reconciles Xero weekly and wants $120k for a CNC router and working capital. That fits GoBiz neatly: no GSA at that size, a likely quick conditional answer, and funds within days of signing. The router itself could also go through equipment finance, keeping the unsecured limit free.
The second owner runs a franchised café, also three years old, with a bookkeeper who catches up quarterly. Two GoBiz rules fail at once: franchises are excluded, and the data isn’t reconciled continuously. That owner would talk to an ANZ banker instead, or look at franchise finance from lenders that work with franchise systems. These two are illustrations, not real customers.
Questions worth asking ANZ before you sign
- Is this offer coming through GoBiz or a banker, and does that change the fees?
- How do my existing ANZ facilities count against the $500k and $1.5m caps?
- Will a GSA or director guarantee be required at this amount?
- If I choose a fixed rate, what could early repayment cost in dollars?
- What’s the total repayable over the full term, including every fee?
If ANZ said no, you’re in the right place
ANZ is a great bank and, when your business matches its rules, its offer is usually worth taking. A decline mostly means one specific rule didn’t fit, and that rule points to the next step:
- Bookkeeping not reconciled or months behind? Lenders that read bank statements rather than accounting files may suit. See business loans when your accountant is behind and low doc business loans.
- Under six months trading? Read business loans with an ABN under 6 months.
- Already at your ANZ limits? A second mortgage or caveat loan over property can add funding without disturbing your bank facilities.
- ATO debt or credit marks? Start with ATO tax debt business loans or bad credit business loans.

When the software says no, a person can still say maybe
GoBiz is built to make fast decisions on tidy data, and that’s its strength. It can’t weigh the context behind a messy quarter, a recent partner exit or a franchise agreement. That’s where a human conversation helps.
Filling in our enquiry takes roughly a minute. Your credit score is untouched by the question, and your file stays here rather than being circulated to lender after lender. An experienced lending specialist reviews it personally, then phones you. Be precise with the numbers, including the GoBiz rule that blocked you, because accurate inputs let us suggest a workable option on the first call.
Frequently asked questions
What is ANZ GoBiz?
GoBiz is ANZ's online lending platform for small businesses. As at October 2026 it connects to your Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks file and offers unsecured loans of $10k to $200k, unsecured overdrafts of $2k to $200k and business vehicle loans. ANZ says eligible applicants can get conditional approval in about 20 minutes.
Do I need to bank with ANZ to apply for a GoBiz loan?
No. ANZ says you don't need to be an existing customer. You will need an ANZ business transaction account to receive the funds, and ANZ opens one for you if you don't already have it.
How long do I need to have been trading for an ANZ unsecured loan?
ANZ asks for at least six months operating under a registered ABN or ACN and at least six months of continuous reconciled data in your accounting software. Businesses with under 12 months history can make only one successful GoBiz application, with lower limits.
Will ANZ take security over my house for a GoBiz loan?
Not for GoBiz. Loans up to $200k need no asset security, though directors usually guarantee them. From $200k to $500k ANZ may take a general security agreement, which covers business assets only, not personal property such as your home.
What if ANZ declines my business loan?
Look at which rule you missed. Messy bookkeeping, a franchise structure or a short trading history each rule out GoBiz, but other lenders assess those differently, from bank statement lenders to property-secured options. You can enquire with us and nothing touches your credit file.
