Quick answer
To get a business loan approved within 24 hours, your file needs to suit automated assessment: an active ABN with six to twelve months or more of steady deposits, current BAS lodgements, no unexplained credit issues and a modest amount relative to turnover. Prepare ID and entity details the night before, apply early on a business day, connect your bank feed, answer questions within minutes and have every director ready to sign.
Key points
- A 24-hour approval is realistic only if your file can be assessed mostly by software
- Ask for an amount comfortably inside what your deposits support; stretching triggers a manual review
- Names must match exactly across your ID, ABN record, bank account and application
- The fastest applicants answer every follow-up question within minutes, not hours
- Approval isn't funding: signing, identity checks and settlement still have to happen
Twenty-four-hour approvals happen every business day in Australia. They aren’t luck, and they aren’t only for big companies. They happen when a file is simple enough for a lender’s systems to verify most of it automatically, and when the owner keeps up with the handful of questions that remain.
This playbook does three things. It helps you check honestly whether your situation can be approved that fast. It lists what to prepare the evening before. And it sets out the order of the day itself, so nothing waits on you.
Can your file be approved in a day?
Start here, because no amount of preparation turns a complex file into a simple one. Run through the table. The more rows where you’re in the left-hand column, the better your chances.
| Factor | Fits a 24-hour approval | Likely to need longer |
|---|---|---|
| Trading history | 12 months or more (some lenders accept 6) | Under 6 months |
| Bank deposits | Regular, mostly from customers | Lumpy, or mixed with personal transfers |
| Amount requested | Well inside one to two months of turnover | Near or above the lender’s ceiling |
| Structure | Sole trader or company with one or two directors | Trust, partnership, multiple layers |
| Tax position | BAS lodged; no debt or a debt on a plan you’ll disclose | BAS outstanding, debt with no plan |
| Credit file | Clean, or one old paid default you’ll explain | Recent defaults, judgments, many enquiries |
| Other lenders | No existing short-term online loans | Two or more running at once |
| Security (if any) | Clear property title with obvious equity | Shared title, existing complex mortgages |
If most of your answers sit on the right, a 24-hour approval is still possible, just less likely. Plan for two to five days and look at the guide on what makes a business loan approval slow to see which items you can fix first.
If you’re mostly on the left, keep going.
Which kind of loan can be approved that fast?
Three products are designed for quick decisions.
- Online unsecured loans. Sized on your bank statements, often decided by software, with a person reviewing anything unusual. Best for amounts that sit comfortably within your monthly deposits. See unsecured business loans.
- Equipment finance for standard assets. A vehicle or machine from an established dealer, where the asset itself is the security. Approval can be quick; settlement waits on the supplier’s invoice. See equipment finance.
- Caveat loans. Short-term, secured against property equity. The decision leans on the property more than the paperwork, which suits owners whose statements are messy but whose title is clean. See caveat loans.
Bank term loans and overdrafts are excellent value when you fit the criteria, but their checks and approval layers rarely fit inside a day. If you have a week, ring your bank first. If you have a day, the products above are where the realistic options sit.
The night before: build your launch kit
Most lost hours happen when an owner stops mid-application to hunt for something. Gather all of this in one folder before you start.
Identity and entity
- Driver licence or passport for every director and guarantor, current and not cropped.
- Your ABN, and for companies the ACN and each director’s full legal name.
- Your own ABN Lookup record. Check the legal name, business address and GST status are current. If the record says one thing and your application says another, a person has to resolve it.
Banking
- Online banking logins for every account that receives business income. Most fast lenders use a secure, read-only connection to pull statements; it’s quicker and avoids questions about edited PDFs.
- A note of any large one-off deposits in the last six months (a tax refund, an asset sale, a loan from a family member) with one line explaining each.
Tax and credit
- Your latest lodged BAS and a current ATO account balance.
- Your own credit report. You can request it free from the credit reporting bodies; the privacy regulator explains how. If there’s anything on it you’d be surprised to see, a lender will be too.
The ask
- The exact amount, the exact purpose and how it gets repaid, written in three sentences.
- For property-secured loans: the address, a recent rates notice and the current mortgage balance.
Use the unsecured business loan calculator to sense-check the amount against your turnover before you lock it in.

The day itself: run it in this order
Timing matters because the credit team’s day is finite. The aim is to put a complete file in front of them as early as possible and then never be the reason it pauses.
Before 9.30am (lender’s time): submit
Apply as soon as you can in the lender’s business hours. Remember daylight saving: from October, an eastern-states lender is an hour ahead of Brisbane and up to three hours ahead of Perth. Connect every business account to the statement link rather than uploading files. Type every name precisely as your licence and the ABN register show it, middle names included.
Disclose anything awkward in the notes field: “ATO debt of $14k on a payment plan since March, all instalments paid” or “one-off $40k deposit in July was the sale of our old truck”. That sentence saves an analyst’s phone call, and often half a day.
Mid-morning to early afternoon: stay reachable
This is when follow-up questions arrive. Keep your phone on and your email open. The fastest approvals go to owners who reply within minutes. If a director or guarantor will need to verify ID or sign, warn them now so they’re at a phone, not on a roof.
Typical questions at this stage:
- “Can you confirm what this transfer was?”
- “Is this second account also a business account?”
- “Who is the second person listed on your ABN record?”
- “Can you send the payment plan confirmation from the ATO?”
Answer each one fully. A half-answer generates a second question.
Afternoon: approval and contracts
A conditional or formal approval may arrive by early afternoon for a clean file. Read the offer properly: the total repayable in dollars, the repayment frequency, any establishment or early-payout terms, and who is guaranteeing what. The letter of offer guide walks through each clause.
Then sign promptly, and make sure every other signatory does too. An unsigned guarantee is the usual reason an approved loan misses same-day funding.
The next morning, at the latest: funds
Many lenders pay out the same afternoon once contracts are back; others settle the next business day. Ask when funds are released so you can tell your supplier, landlord or the ATO a realistic time.
A 24-hour approval, start to finish
Here’s an illustrative example.
A Wollongong plumbing company, trading five years with two directors, needs $45k by Thursday to pay a supplier for hot water systems on a builder’s project. Monthly deposits average around $110k.
On Tuesday night, the operations director gathers both directors’ licences, checks the company’s ABN Lookup record (current), downloads the latest BAS and notes two large deposits: a $22k insurance payout in May and a $15k customer prepayment in August.
At 8.40am Wednesday she applies to an online lender, connects both business accounts and explains the two deposits in the notes. At 10.15am the lender asks whether the second account is the company’s. She answers in four minutes. At 12.50pm approval arrives. Both directors sign electronically by 1.30pm, and the second director completes his ID check from the job site. Funds land just after 3pm.
Nothing about this was extraordinary. The file was simple, the amount was well within the deposits, and nobody made the lender wait. Swap in a family trust, an unlodged BAS or a co-director on leave and the same loan might take three days.
What if 24 hours isn’t possible?
If the profile doesn’t fit, a faster outcome often comes from changing the route rather than pushing harder on the same one:
- Borrow less now, more later. A smaller first amount may be approved automatically while a larger facility is assessed.
- Use property instead of statements. Where cash flow is messy but equity is clear, a secured route can be quicker.
- Ask the creditor for a few days. A supplier or landlord often agrees to a short extension when you can show an application is in progress.
- Read the 48-hour plan. Our urgent funding action plan covers what to do across two days when one isn’t enough.
Ready to move? Let’s check your profile properly
Getting approved in a day is mostly about choosing a lender whose process suits your file, then giving it nothing to wait for. The first half is where a second opinion helps most.
Send us your details on the enquiry form. Filling it in takes roughly sixty seconds and your credit report stays untouched while you ask. We don’t scatter your information around the market, so there’s no juggling calls from lenders you never chose. A real person goes through your situation and phones you to talk options. Please be accurate about turnover, structure and any ATO or credit history, because that’s exactly what decides whether a same-day route is realistic for you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I really get a business loan approved in 24 hours?
Yes, for the right file. Online lenders regularly approve simple unsecured applications within a business day, and some property-secured caveat loans can be approved that quickly too. Trusts, recent credit problems, tax debt or a large amount relative to turnover usually take longer.
What documents do I need for a 24-hour business loan?
Usually a driver licence or passport for each director, your ABN, the business's bank account details for a read-only statement connection, and sometimes recent BAS. Property-secured loans add the address, rates notice and current mortgage statement. Having these open before you start saves the most time.
Is a 24-hour business loan more expensive?
Often, yes. Lenders that approve quickly on limited documents are pricing in more risk. That can be worthwhile when the money protects a contract, a deposit or a penalty deadline, but compare the total dollar cost against what you'd lose by waiting.
Will applying to several lenders at once get me approved faster?
Usually not. Each formal application can leave an enquiry on your credit file, and several in a day can make lenders more cautious, which slows you down. It's better to pick one or two lenders that genuinely suit your profile and apply properly.
What if I'm a new business?
Twenty-four-hour approvals are hard with less than six months of trading, because there isn't enough bank history to assess automatically. A property-secured loan may still be quick, since the security carries more of the decision. Otherwise, allow a few extra days.
What's the best time of day to apply?
Early on a weekday morning in the lender's time zone. That gives the credit team a full working day to assess, ask questions and approve. Late-afternoon and Friday applications often roll over to the next business day.
