Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS) publishes its low-doc criteria in plain sight, which is rarer than it should be in truck finance. If you know your ABN history, your credit file and whether you own property, you can tell within a couple of minutes whether its quickest approval path is open to you.

DTFS is the finance company for Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Freightliner and Fuso in Australia. It took over truck and bus lending from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services after Daimler Truck separated from the passenger car business in late 2021. This profile is based on the Daimler Truck Australia Pacific website as at October 2026.

Do you qualify for Fast Track Finance?

Fast Track is DTFS’s streamlined, low-doc pathway. Run through this checklist first:

Requirement What DTFS asks for
Credit history Clear, with a strong repayment track record
Time in business ABN registered for at least three years, continuous operation in the same industry, verified through ongoing GST registration
Security Property ownership; non-owners put down 20% instead
Truck New or demonstrator Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner or Fuso
Size Up to $1m total exposure, including existing DTFS loans; Fast Track doesn’t apply above $500k per unit or transaction
Term Up to 60 months

If you tick every row, DTFS says you won’t need to supply tax returns, bank statements or financial statements. That matters most for owner-drivers and tradies whose accountant is a few months behind, or whose last tax return understates how the business is trading now.

If you miss a row, it’s not a no. It means a standard application, with the usual documents, assessed on its merits. DTFS says applications above the per-unit limit are welcome; they just go through the normal process.

Which loan and lease products does DTFS offer?

Beyond Fast Track, which is an approval pathway rather than a product, DTFS lists four core structures and one add-on.

Loans, where you end up owning the truck:

  • Asset Loan (chattel mortgage). You own the truck from the start and DTFS takes security over it until the last payment. Payments are GST-inclusive. Our chattel mortgage guide explains the GST and depreciation angles.
  • Asset Hire Purchase. Ownership passes to you at the final payment. You can include or leave out a deposit, stretch the term, or add a balloon to lower the regular instalment.

Leases, where DTFS owns the truck:

  • Finance Lease. Fixed payments plus a residual agreed at the start. At the end you can re-lease or offer to buy the truck at the residual. You carry the residual value risk.
  • Operating Lease. Pitched at medium to large fleets, priced on projected kilometres and term, with optional maintenance packages. The truck goes back at the end, and the residual risk sits with DTFS.

Daimler Guaranteed Buy Back. You choose the truck, your annual kilometres and a term of 12 to 60 months, and DTFS sets a guaranteed future value. At the end you can trade up, keep the truck by paying out or refinancing that amount, or hand it back subject to fair wear and tear.

DTFS also says it can structure finance for multi-vehicle fleets with dedicated Business Managers, including options for seasonal use, high-kilometre work and replacement cycles.

How does Guaranteed Buy Back change the numbers?

The guaranteed value works much like a balloon payment that has a safety net under it. A balloon lowers your regular repayments, but if the resale market has slipped below that figure by the final month, the shortfall is yours. With a guaranteed future value, that market risk sits with DTFS, provided you stay within your kilometre allowance and the truck is in fair condition.

An illustrative example. An owner-driver in Toowoomba with eight years on the same ABN, a clean credit file and a home with equity buys a new Freightliner for interstate work. She qualifies for Fast Track, so no financials are needed. She chooses a four-year term with Guaranteed Buy Back, setting her annual kilometres honestly at the high end of what she expects. Her regular instalments are lower than on a straight loan, and the end-of-term figure is locked in on day one. Four years later, she can hand it back and start again, or keep it if it’s still running well.

The trap is the kilometre estimate. Set it too low to shave the payment, and any excess will cost you at handback. Test both versions in our equipment finance calculator and compare the total dollars, not just the weekly figure.

Not sure whether Fast Track or a full-doc application suits you better? Give us a quick outline and we’ll point you in the right direction. Your credit file stays untouched when you enquire.

Who suits DTFS, and who might struggle?

Good fit:

  • Owner-drivers, tradies and small fleets buying a new Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner or Fuso who meet the Fast Track checklist.
  • Larger fleets wanting operating leases with maintenance, or a guaranteed future value to plan replacement cycles.
  • Operators who’d rather keep their bank facilities for working capital.

Harder fit:

  • Businesses with less than three years on their ABN, or who have recently changed industry. They miss Fast Track and need full documents.
  • Anyone with recent defaults or arrears, since Fast Track requires a clear credit history.
  • Buyers of used trucks from other brands, or anyone needing finance for something other than the truck.

If DTFS can’t help, what comes next?

  • Newer businesses. See business loans with an ABN under 12 months. A larger deposit or a property-backed loan often bridges the trading-history gap.
  • Credit issues. Some independent truck finance providers will look past an old default if the story behind it makes sense. The factors they weigh are set out in our bad credit business loans guide.
  • Another brand. Volvo Financial Services covers Volvo and Mack trucks, and Cat Financial handles Caterpillar machines for earthmoving fleets.
  • The bank. For a well-established business with up-to-date financials, a bank’s equipment finance is often the cheapest money available. Get a quote to compare.
  • Owner-drivers. Our page on owner-driver truckie loans gathers options for single-truck operators.

Ready to get the next truck on the road?

Fast Track is one of the clearer low-doc offers in truck finance, and if you meet the checklist it’s worth a serious look. If you’re a box or two short, or the dealer’s lender has already said no, you still have options.

Filling in our form is roughly a sixty-second job. Sending it leaves your credit report exactly as it was, and what you tell us stays with our team: no flood of calls from lenders you’ve never heard of. Someone experienced in truck lending reads it properly, then phones you. Please be accurate about your ABN age, credit history and any property you own, because those three answers decide which door we try first.

Frequently asked questions

What is Daimler Truck Fast Track Finance?

It's a low-doc approval pathway for new or demonstrator Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso trucks. As at October 2026, there's no need for tax returns, bank statements or financial statements, and total exposure can reach $1m including existing loans, over terms of up to 60 months.

Who qualifies for Fast Track Finance?

According to Daimler Truck's website, you need a clear credit history, an ABN registered for at least three years with continuous operation in the same industry (checked through ongoing GST registration), and either property ownership or a 20% deposit. All applications remain subject to credit approval.

Can I get Fast Track on a $600k truck?

Applications above $500k per unit or transaction are accepted, but Fast Track doesn't apply to them. Larger deals go through standard assessment, which usually means providing financial information.

How does Daimler Guaranteed Buy Back work?

You choose the truck, your expected annual kilometres and a term of 12 to 60 months, and those set a guaranteed future value. At the end, you can trade up, keep the truck by paying out or refinancing that amount, or return it subject to fair wear and tear.

What can I do if I don't meet the Fast Track criteria?

You can still apply through standard assessment with full documents. If credit history or trading time is the issue, specialist truck financiers or a property-secured loan may suit better. We can talk it through, with no credit check to enquire.
